“I heard that once you go to a chiropractor you need to go for the rest of your life. Is that true?”
This is a question I hear far too often. The short answer is ABSOLUTELY NOT. You are free to do whatever you choose with your health. Rather than leaving the topic so quickly, why not explore what would compel someone to seek chiropractic care on a regular basis.
What’s the reason for doing anything frequently? Why do you take blood pressure medication or even clean your house regularly? You have probably found living in a clean environment more enjoyable than filth. Additionally, by cleaning (dusting, vacuuming, etc.) often – weekly, for example – it is substantially easier to keep your home looking better and FUNCTIONING better than it is if you only clean twice a year. Not to mention how much better carpet, furniture, and the like hold up when dirt and grime is not allowed to fester.
A similar thing is true with chiropractic. The goal of seeing a chiropractor on a regular basis is to manage any vertebral subluxations (misalignments in the spine) that may occur. Typically you will not be experiencing any pain during these visits, but keeping up with them is very important to the FUNCTION of your body. Keeping your nervous system clear from any interference should be done regularly, just like other good habits.
