“That’s cool. How did you come up with that?”
Often those are the first words I hear after explaining the Honor Fee System to a new office member. And the honest response? I didn’t.
This system of payment (for chiropractic care) has been around since the 1930s when Dr. George Shears hung a box on the wall of his practice to accept payment. Since that point, many other offices began using it, including Ruehle Family Chiropractic.
The basis for the system is simple… everyone deserves to have their spine and nervous system as free from vertebral subluxation (or misalignment) as possible. In order for everyone to be able to utilize this service it must be affordable. Regardless of the dollar amount that is placed on care, it is always too high for some, and too low for others. The simple solution is to allow each and every individual determine what is reasonable for them (and their budget). This is exactly how much they should be paying. Not only will this ensure that the person can afford a visit, but it will also ensure that the person can continue having their spine checked for the rest of their life.
I first heard of the system from Reggie Gold, D.C. while in chiropractic school. A few months later I chose to take a trip with a few other students to see the system in place at various offices around the New York City area. After this trip I knew there was no other way I would run my office.
Chiropractic care for everyone. Simple.
